Faculty may check out up to 500 items at a time. The loan period for most items is 1 year from date of checkout. For more information, please see Borrowing.
You can renew most library items:
- Online through My Library Account.
- In-person at any library circulation desk.
Item renewals from the University Libraries general collection are usually unlimited unless someone else has requested the item.
You can request items from any library location to be “on hold” for you to pick up at a circulation desk. To place a request:
- Sign in to your library account.
- Search for the item in the library catalog.
- Click on the item record. Under Get Item, click Request Loyola Copy.
- Choose your pickup location and click Send Request.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a free service which obtains items that are not otherwise available from the Libraries. To submit an ILL request, use ILLiad, or please see Interlibrary Loan for more information.

Faculty Office Delivery
Loanable books from Cudahy Library, Lewis Library, and the Library Storage Facility are available for office delivery. We deliver books to your office within 3-4 business days through intercampus mail. Please see Faculty Office Delivery for full instructions.
Faculty may authorize graduate assistants to charge out items in their name. Authorization forms are available at any circulation desk. Faculty maintain responsibility for these items.
Faculty may also establish an ILLiad proxy account to allow graduate assistants to request and check out interlibrary loan items on their behalf. Faculty also maintain responsibility for these items. To request an account, please submit the ILL Proxy Registration form.
