How do I access ERIC and other research resources from
home?
The Proxy Server will identify you as a Loyolan and give
you access to ERIC and all of our databases.
I forgot my username and password. Can you help me?
The library staff do not have access to your password.
You may contact the Call Center 773-508-7190,
email
them at helpdesk@luc.edu,or
use the Personal
Account Manager (PAM) online.
What is Pegasus and how is it different from a research
database such as ERIC?
Pegasus is the online catalog of Loyola University, containing
all materials that the Loyola libraries own including books,
journals, videos and archival materials. You will
not find journal articles in Pegasus! To find
articles, you need to use an index database, such as ERIC,
Education Complete
or Periodical Abstracts. These and many more databases
can be accessed through a list of Research
Databases in Education. Once you have citations,
you need to check Pegasus to see if Loyola owns the journal
in which the article
was published. The call number and location of the journal
is necessary in order to request materials from Lewis Library.
How do I find dissertations?
Dissertations owned by Loyola Libraries can be found by
searching Pegasus.
You can also look for dissertations using the database
Digital
Dissertations. This database provides access
to the full text of dissertations from 1997 to the present,
and citations
for dissertations since 1861.
Dissertations can be ordered from other institutions
through interlibrary loan.
What information do I need to submit electronic requests?
To submit requests for journal articles and books, you
need to have complete citations in order to fill out
the online
request forms. You will also need information
from Pegasus, the libraries' online catalog, including
location and call numbers. More information about requesting
materials is available.
How do I request books and articles to be sent to me from
the library?
If you have complete citations for materials, you can submit
Online Requests for the books and articles to be sent to
your home or office. Some interlibrary loan materials cannot
be sent out and are for library use only. You will be notified
in these cases.
Can I request material over the phone or e-mail?
Due to the large volume of requests, we cannot take requests
over the phone or e-mail. If you have difficulty accessing
the online forms, contact your Interlibrary Loan Office
at (773) 508-6022 or (773) 508-8404.
How do I renew my books?
You can renew books from the Loyola Libraries by using
the patron
info button in Pegasus. To renew Interlibrary
Loan materials (books or dissertations from another University)
use ILLiad.
You must renew your books before the due date! Contact
your Interlibrary Loan Office at (773)
508-6022 or (773) 508-8404 if you have any questions.
Where can I return my books?
You can return your books to the following address:
Interlibrary Loan Librarian
Cudahy Library
6525 N. Sheridan Rd
Chicago, IL 60626
You may also return
the books in person at any Loyola Libraries.
Do any of these services from the Loyola Libraries cost
me anything?
No. All of the costs for the special services we offer
to Cohort students are covered in the tuition you pay.
Any time there is a cost involved, you will have a cost-free
alternative. For example, you can buy
dissertations to
be delivered to you in 4-5 working days. However, interlibrary
loan allows you to borrow dissertations from any library
for free.
