There are three ways to import citations in your RW database:
- Direct import
- Manual import
- Text file import
Organizing and searching your database:
- You can create as many folders as you want to, by default all citations will be imported in the last imported folder.
- Be sure to check the citations not in a folder by using the folder tab and View folders
Click on the Search button to:
- Search for an author or the title of a citation of a descriptor.
- Click on Search online catalog or database
- If it is not selected yet pick Loyola University Chicago
- Start searching Pegasus. It is easier to import citations that way!
Creating bibliographies and in text citations:
- When you are ready to create the reference list click on the Bibliography tab
- Select the correct output style from the list
- Click the radio button Format a Bibliography from a List of References
- Select the file type (probably Word)
- Choose if you want your entire database or just citations from some folders
- Click on Create Bibliography
Exporting to Refworks from research databases:
From OVID databases (PsychInfo, Medline, etc.):
- Select one or more record(s)
- Scroll down to the results manager (at the very bottom of the page) Result Format
- Click the save icon
- Select Export results to Refworks
From EBSCO databases (ERIC, Academic Search Premier, Business Source Elite):
- Put your item(s) in a folder
- Click the folder has items link
- Click the export button
- Click the Direct Export to RefWorks button
- Click the save button
From FirstSearch databases (Wilson Select, WorldCat etc.):
- Click the export button from within a record or a list of record
- Select the Refworks radio button
- Hit Export
From CSA databases (ERIC, Sociological Abstracts, etc):
- After you perform a search, the Refworks link will display above the first article.
- Mark the items you want.
- Click it then click Export to Refworks.
From Proquest databases (Education Complete, Criminal Justice Periodicals, Chicago Tribune etc, no direct export available from Dissertation Abstracts):
- Mark the item(s) you want to export
- Click on the Marked Items in the My Research tab
- Click on Export citations
- Click on Export directly to RefWorks
From ABC Clio (America History and Life, Historical Abstracts):
- Tag the items you want to export
- Click on Export Options on the left side of the screen
- Select the RefWorks Export radio button and Click on the Submit bar.
