Research Guide to the Suffragist/Suffragette Movement

The British Suffragette Movement took their name from "suffrage," which means "the right to vote"; the American movement often took the name "suffragist" to be more inclusive (both genders could be suffragists) and to block pejorative and dismissive uses of "suffragette."
