Best selling author, Sue Monk Kidd offers personal insights into her calling as a writer. She examines her career choices and provides the story within the story. Her highly regarded first book, God's Joyful Surprise, was a "spiritual memoir" and the culmination of her intellectual and spiritual growth. Ms. Monk Kidd's The Mermaid Chair was nominated for the 2006 International IMPAC Dublin Literary Award and won the 2005 Quill Award in General Fiction. Her best-selling novel The Secret Life of Bees has been acclaimed a literary success. Currently living in South Carolina, Sue Monk Kidd is a woman of faith and strength, who puts her beliefs into her work.
