Do I have to read the book to come to the talk? |
No, you will not need to read the book to follow the presentation, and no one will ask you to express your opinions about the book. If you would like to read it, we're sure that you can find it at your local library or bookstore, or maybe here at the Loyola libraries! Also, for those who are interested, we usually sell copies of the book at the event. |
Who can come to the Speaker Series? I'm not a Loyolan. |
Everyone is welcome at our talks, regardless of their affiliation with Loyola. |
Is there are charge to attend these events? |
Only a few events have a charge; those charges are listed on the event pages. Most of the events are Free Admission. |
How formal are these events? |
Our events are deliberately informal, with lots of time for questions and discussion. We want people to feel free to participate. |
How do I get to the Speaker Series by public transportation? |
Take the CTA's Red Line train to Chicago, then walk one block North and one block East. 25 E. Pearson, where the talks are held, is on the corner of Pearson and Wabash. For Lake Shore events take CTA's Red Line train to Loyola el stop, then walk across Sheridan Road and onto the campus. |
I want to drive to the Speaker Series. Where can I park? |

Do I need to come to every lecture, or can I just pick one that interests me? |
You can attend whichever talks you want. All the events are stand-alone presentations. |
How long are the talks? Will there be time for questions? |
The Speaker Series events generally runs from 1 to 1.5 hours, with plenty of time for questions and discussion at an informal post-presentation reception. |
