Shady dealings and seedy times in Chicago are explored by Karen Abbott in her first book Sin in the Second City: Madams, Ministers, Playboys, and the Battle for America's Soul. The notorious dealings inside the Everleigh Club are brought to light in this “well-researched slice of Windy City history” says Publishers Weekly.

Characters abound in this book, as Ms. Abbott details the intertwined lives and careers of Minnie and Ada Everleigh, Mayor Carter Harrison II, John Wayman, Hinky Dink Henna, Dean Sumner and Vic Shaw. All factions of intrigue, church, politics and crime are represented.

A free lance journalist, Karen Abbott writes for such publications as Philadelphia Magazine, Philadelphia Weekly and Salon.com. Ms. Abbott’s work has garnered glowing reviews from peers like Erik Larson, Sara Gruen, and Darin Strauss.

Reception and Book Signing will follow.
