Library Privileges


Loyola Rome Center students, faculty and staff may borrow materials and use other library services at the Rome Center Library. Materials from the general collection circulate as follows:

Faculty and Administration:

  • Materials checked out during the fall semester will be due on December 10th.
  • Materials checked out during the Spring semester will be due on May 1st.

Students & Staff:

  • During the Fall and Spring semesters, materials will be charged for a 28 day loan period.
  • During the summer session, materials will be charged for a 14 day loan period.

Library Services

Renewals:

  • General Collection materials may be renewed as often as needed, provided no one has placed a recall on the item.
  • No phone renewals. All materials must be brought into the library to be renewed.

Recalls:

  • Materials may be recalled after they have been charged to another patron for two weeks.
  • When an item is recalled, the patron holding the item is notified of the due date by mail.
  • The patron who placed the recall will be notified by mail when the item has been returned. Material are held for 10 days before being reshelved.
  • All materials needed for reserve will be recalled immediately.
Overdue Book Fines:
  • Over due books € .25 Euro cents/day/book.
  • Overdue recall fines are € .25 Euro a day after the recall due date and € .50 Lire per day after the original due date.
  • The max fine for overdue books is € 5.00 euro dollars

Lost Materials

  • The charge for a lost item is the current replacement cost of the material plus a non refundable€15.00 euro dollars processing fee.
  • Books not currently in print will be accessed a € 50.00 euro dollars replacement fee, plus the €15.00 euro dollars processing fee.

Reserves:

  • Course materials that Loyola faculty have placed on reserve are kept at the Circulation Desk and are arranged alphabetically by the instructor's last name.
  • A currently valid ID is required to charge reserve items.
  • Reserve items are not eligible for renewal.

There are four categories of reserve materials:

  1. Two-hour: materials may be used for a 2 hour period and may not be removed from the library.
  2. Room-Use: materials may be used for up to one day, but may not be removed from the library.
  3. Three-day: materials may be charged for a 3 day period.
  4. Seven-day: materials may be charged for a 7 day period.
Fines for Overdue Reserve Materials
  • €.05 per minute for 2hours reserve items
  • € 2.50 per day for Room reserves, 3 day reserve and 7 day reserve items

Intercampus Loan:

  • Books and periodicals housed at one of the other Loyola campuses may be requested through intercampus loan.
  • If materials can be transmitted electronically, requests can be processed within 48 hours or two working days.
  • Patrons will be notified by mail when Intercampus Loan materials arrive.
  • Please direct all intercampus loan requests to Elise Aversa at eaversa@luc.edu
Videos:
  • Videos are on reserve at the circulation desk.
  • A valid ID is required to charge out a video.
  • The video must be returned by 9am the next day.
  • Please rewind videos before returning them.
  • There is a € 3.00 Euro dollars fine per day for overdue videos.
