I have lived in the Chicago area for a long time and one of the favorite events I enjoyed recently during the summer months was to go to Millennium Park with so many of my sister friends. We took our lunch and spent the afternoon checking out all the new features added at the Park since the previous year. In the evening we attended the concert in the Jay Pritzker Pavilion and then on that special date of Venetian Night, walked to the shore of Lake Michigan to watch the many floats, magnificently decorated, slowly parade by us. We had taken the Burlington Northern train to avoid the crush of traffic since the event attracts an estimated 750,000 people. Well we missed the 10:30 PM train at Union Station, waited for the 12:45 AM train and returned to La Grange very late for us "early risers." The 50th Annual Venetian Night is set for Saturday, July 28, 2007, and I hope to attend with some friends.

"Tennis, White Sox games, long walks along the lake, crappy summer movies, Friday afternoons off and longer weekends, margaritas at my favorite Mexican restaurants."

Five less crappy summer movies I'm looking forward to are, in no particular order:

  • Knocked Up
  • Stardust
  • The Bourne Ultimatum
  • Mr. Brooks
  • Goya's Ghosts
