A Welcome from the Dean of Libraries

To the Loyola community,

Welcome to the Information Commons web site!

These web pages tell the exciting story of our new 21st century library addition scheduled to open in the Spring of 2008. The Information Commons (IC) will be an architecturally stunning, technology-rich facility aimed at meeting the needs of our faculty and students, especially undergraduates.

This "library without books" is designed with the student in mind and will be the campus destination of choice for studying, doing research, getting computer help, hanging out with friends, or just relaxing and having a cup of coffee. With more than 700 seats, including many with great views of Lake Michigan, it will be easy to find a comfortable place to sit and work. There will also be more than 30 enclosed group study rooms and many other group work areas throughout the Commons. Wireless throughout and with 250 PCs and Macs, the IC will provide easy connectivity to the world of information and provide the tools you need to succeed.

Need help with that research paper? Is your computer giving you problems? Does your password suddenly not work? We can help!

The Information Commons help desk will offer expert assistance from professional librarians and technology specialists to respond to any information need. And, the IC will be open 24 hours a day to serve you no matter what your schedule.

Explore our regularly-updated web site to get more information and to see architectural drawings of our fabulous new facility. The future is coming to Loyola!
